Olympic Math: Bobsled Metrics

Try this problem on students grade 8 and up.

U.S. Olympians Lauryn Williams and Elana Meyers are in position to take the Gold Medal in the Women’s Bobsled event at the Winter Olympics.  They posted the fastest time in their first run, 57.26 seconds.  Bobsleds can achieve speeds as high as 150 kph (kilometers per hour).  How many miles per hour is that?

Answer:  93 mph
