The Atlantic put out a fascinating article recently featuring ELL elementary students in California that are doing exceptionally in math.  The school is 60% English Language Learners. Despite years of state funding cuts and classes that average 30 or more kids apiece 91 percent scored proficient or higher on their end of year math test.

However, the educators fear that the language demands of the Common Core may hurt these ELL students’ ability to continue to do well in subjects including math.

How do you feel?
