37 GOLD MEDAL SCHOOLS AND DISTRICTS

During the 2021-2022 school year, students and teachers worked hard to fill skill gaps. Many of our Ascend Math schools reported growth on high stakes tests and most students gained from 1 to 3 levels in Ascend Math! Thank you to our Gold Medal schools for supporting their students and sharing their learning models to help other educators successfully implement programs to address unfinished learning. The over 5,100 students in our 37 Gold Medal schools have completed more than 71,000 objectives this year! Each Gold Medal school implements Ascend Math in their own unique way and yet all schools achieved great success in fulfilling their bold goals. Students in a Success Math Lab class at Bailly STEM Academy use Ascend Math to develop an understanding and an appreciation of mathematics while applying it to their world. In a third party growth monitoring assessment, all students have shown tremendous growth with the 7th grade students outpacing typical growth by 123%.

Compass Charter Schools

Compass Charter School uses Ascend Math with their Specialized Academic Instruction (SAI) time that is spent focusing on IEP goals and skills needed for academic success. They have seen increased progress toward IEP goals and achievement in courses. Over 37% of students have completed one or more grade levels since September.

Delta Middle School

Delta Middle School utilizes Ascend Math for all students with multiple implementation objectives including RTI, enrichment and gifted programs and before and after school programs. Teachers actively monitor progress and utilize the Ascend Math usage reports to calculate weekly homework grades. Ascend has a tremendous impact on the students' achievements at Delta Middle School!

Kilgore Middle School
KILGORE, TX

Kilgore Middle School utilizes Ascend Math for all 900 of their math students for HB4545 to support their diverse student population and tailor math to each student's individual math ability. Ascend assists with the large disparity in learning levels caused by the Covid pandemic. The school was able to address learners both below and above grade level. Teachers regularly monitor reports and assessment data to measure progress.

Lakeside Christian School

Lakeside Christian School implements Ascend Math with their K-8 RTI and their tutoring program students to track progress and cover standards they may have missed. This has allowed teachers another resource to meet students at their level which causes students to be more engaged.

Newman International Academy of Vietnam

Ascend Math is used for daily math time for K-8 graders and some high school students at Newman International Academy of Vietnam. As an international school, all children are bilingual. Ascend Math was adopted as their main curriculum to allow students to work at their at their own pace, while still receiving a top level education. 67% of students have completed one or more grade levels between August and mid-April with 28% completing 2 or more grade levels.

Oglethorpe Charter School

Oglethorpe Charter School uses Ascend with their Remedial Math classes. During August and September 37% of students using Ascend have tested out of the Remedial Math classes. Furthermore, the students who remain in the course have shown great growth. 50% of 6th and 7th graders have completed at least 1 level and 97% of 8th graders have completed at least 1 level! Students are encouraged and competitive. Once they see a peer pass a level they go home and complete assignments

Oglethorpe County High School

Oglethorpe County High School adopted Ascend math to accommodate students in need of extra time in remediation, to gain math skills from previous years, and serve as the Tier II intervention for MTSS. So far this year, from September to March, 73% of students have completed 1 or more grade levels and 23% of students have completed two or more grade levels.

Paetow High School

Paetow High School has been using Ascend with their special education students for almost 2 years. Students have advanced their math skills quickly this year as they have the base they built last year. I have an “Ascend Math Wall of Fame” where I post a sticker for each student that completes a level. Students like to compete against each other and receive certificates of completion.

Perry Hall CHRISTIAN School

Perry Hall Christian School implements Ascend to help bring students to grade level and in their “College Ready Math” class for students needing their last math credit in high school. Out of the 108 students using Ascend, 42% have completed a whole level between September and March with most of the other students on track to complete their level by the end of the school year.

Saint David Catholic School

Saint David Catholic School uses Ascend with their students as both an enrichment and remediation tool. Students had gaps in their math skills from the pandemic. Ascend has been a great way to close those gaps. 57% of students have completed one or more grade levels and 10% of students completed two or more grade levels from September to mid-April.

One student has made an incredible 3.9 years of growth in this school year alone! Many students have completed 2+ years of growth. Ascend Math is used to supplement our core curriculum for all students. Daily use is scheduled either in the computer lab and/or in our classroom rotations. Ascend Math has proved valuable in addressing the gaps caused by COVID Closings. 68% of students have gained one or more grade levels in Ascend Math with 31% of students completing 2 or more levels.

Austin Elementary School implements Ascend with their Special Education students with a goal for each student to work 60 minutes each week. 56% of students have completed 1 or more levels during September and February! This is a platform parents and teachers use at home. Parents and students LOVE having this platform.

Crosby Middle School

Crosby Middle School implements Ascend Math with students based on the previous school year’s end of course exams (i.e. Math STAAR – RTI). Ascend has provided an opportunity for students to engage with prerequisite, at grade-level, and above math skills at their own page, while also improving students’ disposition towards all things math.

East Omak Elementary

Fairfield West Elementary

Ascend Math has made a positive impact on the 3rd and 4th grade students at Fairfield West Elementary. The 3rd grade NWEA scores showed an average growth of 10.92 while the 4th graders showed an average growth of 7.17 from Fall of 2021 to Winter of 2022. Students also showed growth in their Acadience Composite scores. 3rd graders had an average growth of 26.72 points while 4th graders had an average growth of 13.94, making this the 4th grades largest gain!

Garland McMeans Junior High

Students in Special Education at Garland McMeans Junior High use Ascend to recover from the learning loss due to Covid. Students are assisted by being provided with a unique curriculum that begins at their lowest skill gap and area of need.

Huntsville Intermediate School

Ascend Math is used in an elective math intervention class at Huntsville Intermediate School. Students that use Ascend have shown 17% growth from the Fall Benchmark to the Spring Benchmark STAAR test. Students enjoy reaching new levels! Between October and March students have had a gain of 50% from the Pre Assessment to the Post Assessment.

KILGORE HIGH School

Kilgore High School targets students in the RtI program who have not passed STAAR. Since the beginning of the school year 53% of students have shown growth on their STAAR/EOC scores with 20% of the students passing. Students have an average gain of 46% from the Pre Assessment to the Post Assessment.

Methodist Family utilizes Ascend Math with students with disabilities with a desired goal to reach grade level performance in math. Utilizing Ascend Math reports, teachers are able to set realistic and attainable goals for students, and teachers are able to incorporate Ascend Math resources and worksheets into daily lesson planning. Ascend Math promotes intellectual engagement and students appear "happier" and interact positively with peers, staff, and teachers.

Students look forward to their independent learning time and appreciate that other students don’t know at which level they are working. 49% of students have completed one or more levels in just 4 months! During this short time 13% of students have completed two or more levels!

Students at Oden High School utilize Ascend Math for intervention and enrichment. The average student grade level growth in Ascend is 1.04 since the end of October. They have also shown an increase of 49% from the Pre to the Post Assessment. Over 31% of students have completed one or more levels in Ascend and 25% of students have completed two or more levels!

Philadelphia Performing Arts Charter School

Immediately after students began working in Ascend the administrators received positive feedback from students and teachers. Ascend has helped students gain or strengthen their basic skills thereby allowing them to participate in their regular education classrooms with confidence.

Project Reclaim of Minden

Project Reclaim of Minden implements Ascend as their enhanced curriculum. Their area showed low performance in mathematics and an initial lack of interest to improve. Now students are feeling very positive and are achieving at or above the grade level expectations. Students have improved their gain by 46% from the Pre to the Post Assessment.

Seneca Highlands IU9/Oswayo Valley

Special Education students at Seneca Highlands IU9/Oswayo Valley have improved and retained their overall learning as based on Ascend results from year to year, IEP goals and state assessment levels. Each student has a routine and knows exactly what needs to be done so they aren’t second guessing what the expectations are. They feel more in control of their learning and have begun to self-advocate more.

South Cobb High School uses Ascend Math as a response to intervention and credit recovery They are also more engaged with the targeted objectives as shown by their 50% growth from the pre to the post assessment. In Foundations of Algebra Assessment 1 1 99% of students scored Below Basic. After utilizing Ascend Math, 42% of students scored Basic and above with 9% scoring Distinguished.

St. Ann Catholic School

5th graders at St. Ann Catholic School use Ascend Math to fill in their math gaps and track students' progression. Ascend has assisted teachers with students working in different levels. During August and March over 35% of students have completed one or more levels.

St. Joseph Catholic School

Students at St. Joseph Catholic School use Ascend Math for Intervention and Recovery. Between September and March students completed over 600 objectives and had an average gain of 47% from the Pre Assessment to the Post Assessment.

Stone Mountain High School

The Exceptional Education team uses Ascend Math to assist teachers in targeting students’ learning gaps. Ascend allows teachers to provide alternative methods for meeting the math needs of students. The program has helped build students’ confidence in math. They have their own specialized math plan and they can work at their own pace. This takes a lot of stress off the students.

Susan B. Anthony Middle School

Ascend Math has definitely made an impact on student achievement at Susan B. Anthony Middle School.  Students have shown increases of .5  to 2 years skill growth during this academic year. Students like Ascend because it follows the philosophy; demonstrate that you understand, then move on. It also provides them with a comfortable routine. Students have started asking more questions, taking more risks, and are more willing to accept the challenge of doing more.

The Columbus School implements Ascend to support students below the 25th percentile on their MAP tests, as an intervention program and during their Summer Algebra Readiness course. Ascend provides individualized support to our students and provides information-rich reports that our teachers can use to support student learning.

Trevor-Wilmot Grade School implements Ascend Math with their special education students. Students have been able to increase grade level growth which allows them to attend grade level math classes. The school has seen an increase in their scores on the Measures of Academy Progress test. Students can work at their own pace and review parts of the objective as needed to clarify information. Students have achieved an average gain of 52% from the Pre to the Post Assessment!

Warren Technical School implements Ascend in their Special Education Career Technical School. Meeting each student at their individual skill needs is one of the reasons Warren Technical School adopted Ascend Math. 100% of students have shown growth on Measure of Academic Progress (MAP).
