37 GOLD MEDAL SCHOOLS AND DISTRICTS

During the 2021-2022 school year, students and teachers worked hard to fill skill gaps. Many of our Ascend Math schools reported growth on high stakes tests and most students gained from 1 to 3 levels in Ascend Math! Thank you to our Gold Medal schools for supporting their students and sharing their learning models to help other educators successfully implement programs to address unfinished learning. The over 5,100 students in our 37 Gold Medal schools have completed more than 71,000 objectives this year! Each Gold Medal school implements Ascend Math in their own unique way and yet all schools achieved great success in fulfilling their bold goals. Kilgore Middle School utilizes Ascend Math for all 900 of their math students for HB4545 to support their diverse student population and tailor math to each student's individual math ability. Ascend assists with the large disparity in learning levels caused by the Covid pandemic. The school was able to address learners both below and above grade level. Ascend Math is used for daily math time for K-8 graders and some high school students at Newman International Academy of Vietnam. As an international school, all children are bilingual. Ascend Math was adopted as their main curriculum to allow students to work at their at their own pace, while still receiving a top level education. 67% of students have completed one or more grade levels between August and mid-April with 28% completing 2 or more grade levels.

Oglethorpe Charter School uses Ascend with their Remedial Math classes. During August and September 37% of students using Ascend have tested out of the Remedial Math classes. Furthermore, the students who remain in the course have shown great growth. 50% of 6th and 7th graders have completed at least 1 level and 97% of 8th graders have completed at least 1 level! Students are encouraged and competitive. Once they see a peer pass a level they go home and complete assignments

Students have advanced their math skills quickly this year as they have the base they built last year. Ascend Math has made a positive impact on the 3rd and 4th grade students at Fairfield West Elementary. The 3rd grade NWEA scores showed an average growth of 10.92 while the 4th graders showed an average growth of 7.17 from Fall of 2021 to Winter of 2022. Students also showed growth in their Acadience Composite scores. 3rd graders had an average growth of 26.72 points while 4th graders had an average growth of 13.94, making this the 4th grades largest gain!
